Write for Us – My Mental Health and I (MMHI)
At My Mental Health And I (MMHI), we publish thoughtful, culturally relevant mental health content that educates, empowers, and helps reduce stigma, especially within Nigerian and African communities.
We welcome guest writers who are passionate about mental health and emotional well-being. If you have an idea that aligns with our mission, we’d love to hear from you.
What We’re Looking For
We’re interested in well-written, insightful articles and blog posts that explore mental health from a practical, human, and culturally grounded perspective.
Topics we welcome include (but are not limited to):
- Mental health in Nigerian and African contexts
- Everyday mental wellbeing, emotional and self-care tips
- Mental health education and awareness
- Mental health poems
- Cultural beliefs, stigma, and mental health
- Lived experiences shared responsibly (You can share your story with us)
- Mental health in schools, workplaces, families, and communities
We are interested in content that feels specific, thoughtful, and relevant, not generic or overly clinical.
Who Can Write for MMHI?
We welcome submissions from advocates, students, or professionals working in the psychology or mental health field, as well as individuals with lived experience related to mental health.
You do not need to be a professional writer. If you are willing to write clearly, thoughtfully, and follow our guidelines, you are welcome to pitch.
We strongly encourage Nigerian and African writers, including those based outside Africa, who can write with cultural understanding and sensitivity.
Submission Guidelines
To maintain quality and consistency, please note the following:
- Articles should be 1,000–2,500 words
- Content must be original and not published elsewhere
- Submissions should align with MMHI’s tone: clear, respectful, and easy to understand
- Articles should be written for readers with little or no mental health background
- We reserve the right to edit submissions for clarity, tone, structure, and SEO
- AI tools may be used for support, but articles should not be fully AI-generated and must reflect original thinking
Detailed writing guidelines will be shared once your pitch is approved.
How to Pitch
Before writing a full article, please send a pitch to: contact@mymentalhealthandi.com
Your email should include:
- A brief description of the topic you want to write about
- Why the topic is relevant to MMHI’s audience
- A short bio (1–2 sentences)
- Links to previous writing or platforms (if available)
This helps us review ideas efficiently and avoid topic overlap.
What Happens After You Pitch?
- We aim to respond to pitches within two weeks
- If your pitch is approved, you’ll receive our full writing guidelines
- If your article is published, you may include one link to your website or social media for visibility
Please note that guest contributions to MMHI are currently unpaid, but we are happy to credit writers and link to their work or platforms.
If you’re unsure whether your idea fits, feel free to pitch anyway. We value thoughtful voices and meaningful stories.
