You may be wondering…what is me time? What does it mean to you? Relaxation? Time with friends? Sports or hobbies? And why do we need this “me time”, anyway?
If you’ve never heard of the term “me time,” it is something that is slowly gaining popularity at a fast pace. “Me time” refers to the time that an individual spends alone, focusing on their own needs and interests.
I’m sure you’ve been told several times that it’s a good idea to socialize, but let me be clear, this isn’t always the best idea. If you’re depressed and go out with your friends, you may get even more depressed because they’ll try to keep up a happy façade while not caring about you at all. Or maybe they’ll invite you out because they feel sorry for you. But, I’m giving you an alternative to this.
10 Exciting Things You Can Do During Your “Me Time”
If you feel bored when you are alone or if you are looking for exciting ways to spend alone time, there are many exciting things you can do, depending on your interests and preferences. Here are a few ideas:
- Explore your creativity: Try painting, drawing, writing, photography, or whatever you enjoy. Take the time to create something you’re passionate about.
- Get moving, get some fresh air and sunshine: Take a walk, go for a run, or try a new workout. You need Vitamin D, for maintaining strong bones and a healthy immune system.
- Learn something new: Read a book, take an online course, watch a YouTube tutorial, learn a new language… this list goes on and on. Just learn something about a topic you are interested in.
- Cook yourself a fancy meal: Do you always eat out because you don’t usually have time to cook or there’s a meal you’re craving for? Well, you can use your me-time to prepare a nice meal for yourself, you deserve it.
- Indulge in self-care: Take a relaxing bath, give yourself a facial, get good sleep, or practice yoga or meditation. Anything you do for self-care should be okay, as long as it works well for you.
- Get organized: Do your laundry, throw out some old stuff you don’t need anymore, or anything that needs to be organized. Clean and declutter your living space, also plan and organize your schedule.
- Listen to music or podcast: Make a playlist of your favorite songs and enjoy them. You could also listen to podcasts if you prefer that instead.
- Travel: Take a day trip or plan a solo vacation to a place you’ve always wanted to visit. If you can’t afford to travel, visit a tourist attraction in your area or anywhere around you, for sightseeing.
- Reflect: Take the time to pray, journal, meditate, or just sit and think about your life, goals, and what truly makes you happy. Reflecting allows you to take a step back from the constant noise and distractions of social media and other technology.
- Update your apps and passwords: Yes, this is very important. Keeping your apps and passwords updated ensures that any security vulnerabilities or bugs are fixed. It also ensures your accounts remain secure.

It can be so easy to get caught up in the bustle of everyday life that you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and as though there’s never time left in the day to do all the things you need or want to do.
